One Love BVI

Hi friends!

First, a giant thank you to those of you who have kindly donated to help the people of Tortola. Things are still really rough there. It would be easy to forget about the devastation, since three months and many news cycles have passed. As the holiday season approaches, I want to express my gratitude to everyone who has supported this cause. We are still fully committed to helping the people of Tortola recover, and after a lot of research we’re excited to announce that we’ve decided to join forces with One Love BVI.

We chose One Love BVI because of their experience and knowledge of where contributions like ours can have the greatest impact. One Love BVI has been working to bring aid to Tortola since Hurricane Irma hit, including recruiting 1000 volunteers to provide much needed support such as medical, utility, construction and even diving skills to help clear the bays of debris to open up tourism. The financial success of the islands is crucial to getting local people out of their desperate living situations.

Another thing we appreciate about One Love BVI is their efforts to use sustainable building practices, including solar energy, as they help rebuild Tortola.

While the government will rebuild schools and hospitals, donations are essential to return to a functional life on Tortola, funding critical items such as educational materials and healthcare equipment. One Love BVI has launched a campaign where you can “adopt” a school/business, etc. and raise funds online for it. With their help, we’re thrilled to announce that we’ve adopted two schools — Leonora Delville Primary School and Isabella Morris Primary School on the West End of Tortola. We will use the funds that you all have so generously donated, plus matching funds, to help get those two schools up and running again.

Thank you again to all of you who were so kind as to take part in this! I also want to thank everyone who purchased passes to the Waterwheel preshow on 12/30 as the funds raised at that event will also support relief efforts on Tortola. The Concert for Island Relief on Jan 6 at Radio City Music Hall will also support reconstruction efforts on Tortola along with the rest of the BVI, USVI and Puerto Rico. If you’d like to donate, or want to invite your friends to get involved, you can still contribute by clicking HERE or giving directly at OneLoveBVI.org.

Thank you and happy holidays!
