KILIMANJARO CD RELEASE

Kilimanjaro celebrates the release of their first CD in 25 years this Saturday, Jan. 31st, at Burlington’s City Hall Auditorium!

The show begins at 8pm and doors open at 7pm. Seating is first come first serve. For tickets and info, please call the Flynn Theatre Box Office at 802-86-FLYNN.

This is a band with a huge history with Trey and the entire Phish organization. First off, you all know bass player Tony Markellis from his six tours “holding down the bottom” with the Trey Anastasio Band. Phish historians may already know that Kilimanjaro guitarist and writer, Paul Asbell, was once Trey’s guitar teacher. Keyboardist Chas Eller, owns a recording studio in Vermont and in became partners with Trey at The Barn for the recording of the Oysterhead, and Trey Anastasio Band albums. Kilimanjaro’s new saxophonist, Chris Peterman, has performed with Phish several times, and is joined on the new Kilimanjaro CD by a veritable Who’s Who of horn players that have graced the Phish and TAB stage. Those beloved alumni include Jen Hartswick, Dave “The Truth” Grippo, Andy Moroz, and Don Glasgo.

For the past 25 years the members of Kilimanjaro performed primarily as the Unknown Blues Band, which featured forner B.B. King alumnus, Big Joe Burrell. That band opened for the Trey Anastasio Band at SPAC, and again at the Burlington Discover Jazz Festival. (They also played at Treys” wedding!) Come check the band this Saturday at Burlington’s City Hall Auditorium!
